All Summer in a Day
%2B22.30.51.png)
"The sky darkened into midnight in a flash.
They stood in the doorway of the underground for a moment until it was raining hard. Then they closed the door and heard the gigantic sound of the rain falling in tons and avalanches, everywhere and forever".
Here Ray Bradbury uses the sense of sight and sound by describing how the rain came again and the terrible sound it made. In the picture we can see a very rainy and cold day that makes no one want to go outside. The sound of the rain was so strong that it was like the sun never came out and it was so cold that is like the only seson they have is winter.
The main character of the story is Margot, she is a very quiete and lonely girl that wants to go back to live in the Earth. She is very respectfull with his classmateseven they treat her badly.
When the class sang songs about happiness and life and games her lips barely moved.

Taste
This is a Roald Dahl short story that is about a man called Michael Scofield that invite his friend Richard Pratt and his wife to dinner in Michaels house. Richard Pratt is a famous gourmet man that likes all types of wines and know them very well. While eating dinner Richard was very interested in Michaels daughter so he seated next to her and talked to her all dinner without even eating his own fish. Michel and Richard everytime they meet they make some bets about who knows which wine they are drinking. This night they also made a bet, Michael took a wine from his study and Richard need t tell what exact wine it was. Michael said that he would bet anything that Pratt wants, so Pratt taking it very serious what Michael said and he said that he want to bet the hand of her daughter in marriage. Michael was so sure that he was going to win because he said that his wines are good enough to be recognised so he convinced his daughter to accept the bet. After accepting the bet Michael went to his studio take out one wine and gave a glass to Pratt. Richard Pratt took his time deciding which wine it was and after tasting it many times and discarding some possibilities he said his final word. When he said his final answer Michael was quiet staring a the table and the rest of the guests were saint for Michael to show the tag of the wine. But sadly Pratt was correct and he "won the prize".

"He paused, his mouth full of wine, getting the first taste, then, he permitted some of it to trickle down his throat and I saw his Adam's apple move as it passed by". (4)
%2B20.03.25.png)
Here Roald Dahl appeals to the sense of sight because he was very descriptive at the moment of tasting the wine. In the image we can see how this person drinks and very carefully tasting every single mouthful of wine. Also we can see how the wine passes through his throught.
The protagonist of ti story is Michael Scofield, he is a very confident of himself. He is the type of person that we can how he is by looking his actions for example:
This reveals about the character that he is very sure of what he is doing or what he is betting. By teling Richard Pratt that he would bet anything he damn please then he would choose anything and Michael cant say no so that is why Pratt choosed the hand of her daughter in marriage.

Good and bad memories
In these chapters of the giver happens some interesting things. Jonas goes to the Annex and the Giver tells him that he needs to be taken some pain so he gives Jonas a painful memory of a body during war he was very thirsty and he had to watch how he died slowly. The Giver apologize for giving him that awful memory. The Giver gave Jonas some good memories trying to make up the terrible one. He gives him the memory of a birthday party, one that he was riding a horse, there he understood the bond between and animal and a human, and he gave Jonas his favorite a Christmas morning.
Jonas tells the Giver that he saw a family and also he learned of "grandparents" Jonas understands that his parents had parents and so on, and he also saw another thing but he couldnt find the word until the Giver told him "LOVE". When Jonas got home he asked his parents that if they loved him they didnt answer and they told him to par attention to precision of language. The next day Jonas went to tell Asher the news about the free day, Jonas finds Asher playing with other kids as if thy were in war, Jonas took it very seriously because he had the memory of war and he knows how terrible it is. Jonas wants them to stop playing but Asher was mad at him, he didnt uderstood why it affected so much Jonas. At night Father tell all the family about his work tomorrow, he had a twins release. The next day Jonas ask the Giver about relesases, he sometimes wantes to get released but he couldnt until Jonas gets trained, and Jonas coulnt ask for release eather that was one of his rules. Jonas asked about the failure of the other reciever before 10 years ago. Her name was Rosemary, the Giver felt love for her so he didnt want to trnsmit bad memories to her so for 5 weeks he gave her only good memories. But it was her job and the Giver needed to give her also the other memories so he started with kids taken away freom parents, with bad memories she was no longer happy.
He said that Rosemary one day at the end of a session she kissed him on the cheek and left. Rosemary asked fpr release and she was never seen again. The community was a caos because the memories that she had came to the community when she left.

"And
somebody else comes to get him? Somebody from Elsewhere?"
"That's
right, Jonas-bonus." (137)
Who will come? is that actually true or they are just saying that so they dont have to reveal the ugly truth about releasing, also with Elsewhere what do people in the community think about Elsewhere, they think that is exist and everyone lives with the perspective that it actually exists, but what if not? They will be very disappointed because no one wants to live deceived.
If Jonas father is lying and telling him that someone will pick up Gabe and take him to Elsewhere he is doing it without regret like nothing is happening "thats right Jonas- bonus" he seems like he is telling the truth. But is he??
"Do you love me?"
There was an awkward silence for a moment. Then Father gave a little chuckle. "Jonas. You, of all people. Precision of language, please!" (127)

OMG! I never thought that his PARENTS would say that to his son! In a normal world parents love their kids and make them feel that they are loved and protected. I felt very bad for Jonas in that moment, he must had felt a vacuum in his heart. What kind of comunity is this, it is suposed to be without pain but when you know the truth everything is upside down.
Final Thoughts
In these chapter Jonas knows more about feelings (war, love) Now when he hears people saying i am sad or angry he knows what that really means and that those people dont because they dont have the memories.

seeing colors
Jonas is still recieving memories. Now he is having some of colors, one of them was a rainbow. Jonas tells Te Giver that he think that not having colors in his community is unfair, he wanted to pick the color of his tunic each morning, but he couldnt. He also recieved the momery of the oain of a broken leg. That day Jonas learned that people had different skin color and that animals once existed. The Giver shares with Jonas something of his personal life, he told him that once he had a wife but that it was very difficult to be with her and have to hide everything, and that it will be also difficult for him if he woud want a wife. As we can see Jonas learns many things in this chapter, and also how importat is to have a Reciever of Memory. When Jonas was at home he made something that he didnt told The Giver. Jonas accidentaly transmitted the memory of a beautiful landscape to Gabe because he was trying to make him fall asleep panting his back. OMG!

"But now that I can see colors, at least
sometimes, I was just thinking: what if we could hold up things that were bright
red, or bright yellow, and he could choose?Instead of the
Sameness."
"He might make wrong choices."
when i read this part of the book i think that making wrong decisions is part of life because they make you learn so you dont chose wrong again. As Jonas i also thibk that is unfair not having the freedom to chise whatever they whant. Choosing what you want to wear is not that important but for eample your assignment if you get something that you dont whant then that will be important because you will be doing that the rest of your life.
"This
time he quite deliberately placed his hand firmly on Gabriel's back, and
released the rest of the calming day on the lake. Again, Gabriel slept.
He wondered, though, if he should confess to The Giver
that he had given a memory away. He was not yet qualified to be a Giver (116-117)
When I read
this I thought that maybe he was able to transmit the memory to Gabe because he
has pale eyes like Jonas and also The Giver has pale eyes so I questioned
myself that if their is a connection between them because of their pale eyes
that allow them to transmit or receive memories. In the final sentence of the
passage it made me wonder what would The Giver say if Jonas told him that he
transmitted a memory to Gabe.
Final Thoughts
I liked reading these chapters they were very interesting, Jonas keeps learning more and more. He finds out some things and make his own conclusion like that having no colors is unfair. What i think is that this community actualy have fear of making mistakes so the result is sameness everything the same no one choose anything they get what they get. I dont think that is correct or good for the people in the community because they should have the freedom to choose what they whnat and wthing that the mistakes come, and that is not bad because they learn making mistakes and help them be better.

First Day as a Reciever
Jonas has been given his assignment of Reciever of Memory and he opened his folder an lokked at a printed sheet that said some instructions that he read them, he started questining himsel about the last one that said "you are allowed to lie", he was confused he had never lied he had been taught that but had their parents ever lied to him? Did they also recieved those instrctions? The next day Jonas entered the Annex were he realized that door in ther were locked. Jonas entered the locked door and saw the thousands ok books that were in there. There was the Reciever, that he told Jonas to call him The Giver, he allows Jonas to ask whatever he what but he didnt had a question. He continued and explained his task and that he will transmit some memories to Jonas from a long time ago. He said that the memories gives him wisdom but it weigheds him a lot, that was like going downhill through deep snow on a sled, but Jonas did not undestood what he said because he ha never seen a sled or snow or downhill. He tells Jonas to take his tunic, he turn off the speacker which surprises Jonas because no one has the ability to do that, and he puts his hands on Jonas back to transmit the memory of snow.
Jonas felt nothing but later he shivers and felt the cold air one part of him was on the Annex and the other at the top of a hill standing on a sled and he start sliding downhill and eventually it stopped. He explained Jonas that this memory was long ago and that climate control got rid of those things to make transportation and agriculture easier, he said that the community has sameness. The second memory Jonas recieve was sunshine, Jonas realized that this was before climate control. Before Jonas leave he asked why they warned him that it would be painful. So he recieved the memory of sun burn and Jonas said that hurt a LOT! pooor Jonas :(

Then she seemed to notice his discomfort and to realize its origin.
No doors in the community were locked, ever. None that Jonas
knew of, anyway. (73)
- These quote makes me think that if they dont dont lock their doors is because they have absolute security in their community and that is why they dont have to fear anything. That also makes me think that they dont have privacy and maybe they dont need it because everyone is the "same" so you have nothing different and you dont need privacy.
8. You may lie.
- These is the last of the instruction that Jonas had inhis folder. This makes me think that know Jonas can say whatever he wants and nothing will happend, but it also brings me some questions like if everyone when recieve their assignment get the same instrctions and now everyone is lying and also if Jonas parents are not telling the truth to him.
"Ouch," he said loudly, and shifted on the bed. "Owwww," he said,
wincing at the shift, and even moving his mouth to speak made his
face hurt.
- this quote make me think that as The Giver talked about climate control Jonas and the people from the community had never felt something like that, that pain that mekaes you skin pretty, because everything is the same they have no season no anything everything is the same. Sameness.
Final thoughts
These last chapter that i read of the Giver brought me some questions as i already wrote, but it was very intersenting the thing about giving Jonas the memories and making him feel something new was very interesting.
