seeing colors

Jonas is still recieving memories. Now he is having some of colors, one of them was a rainbow. Jonas tells Te Giver that he think that not having colors in his community is unfair, he wanted to pick the color of his tunic each morning, but he couldnt. He also recieved the momery of the oain of a broken leg. That day Jonas learned that people had different skin color and that animals once existed. The Giver shares with Jonas something of his personal life, he told him that once he had a wife but that it was very difficult to be with her and have to hide everything, and that it will be also difficult for him if he woud  want a wife. As we can see Jonas learns many things in this chapter, and also how importat is to have a Reciever of Memory. When Jonas was at home he made something that he didnt told The Giver. Jonas accidentaly transmitted the memory of a beautiful landscape to Gabe because he was trying to make him fall asleep panting his back. OMG!

Text Responces

"But now that I can see colors, at least sometimes, I was just thinking: what if we could hold up things that were bright red, or bright yellow, and he could choose?Instead of the Sameness."

"He might make wrong choices."
when i read this part of the book i think that making wrong decisions is part of life because they make you learn so you dont chose wrong again. As Jonas i also thibk that is unfair not having the freedom to chise whatever they whant. Choosing what you want to wear is not that important but for eample your assignment if you get something that you dont whant then that will be important because you will be doing that the rest of your life.

"This time he quite deliberately placed his hand firmly on Gabriel's back, and released the rest of the calming day on the lake. Again, Gabriel slept.
He wondered, though, if he should confess to The Giver that he had given a memory away. He was not yet qualified to be a Giver (116-117)

When I read this I thought that maybe he was able to transmit the memory to Gabe because he has pale eyes like Jonas and also The Giver has pale eyes so I questioned myself that if their is a connection between them because of their pale eyes that allow them to transmit or receive memories. In the final sentence of the passage it made me wonder what would The Giver say if Jonas told him that he transmitted a memory to Gabe.

Final Thoughts
I liked reading these chapters they were very interesting, Jonas keeps learning more and more. He finds out some things and make his own conclusion like that having no colors is unfair. What i think is that this community actualy have fear of making mistakes so the result is sameness everything the same no one choose anything they get what they get. I dont think that is correct or good for the people in the community because they should have the freedom to choose what they whnat and wthing that the mistakes come, and that is not bad because they learn making mistakes and help them be better.

  1. Nicole, I realy liked the name of this blog post! I liked your summary very much and I like that you wrote stuff like: OMG! To express your thoughts. I liked the first text response very much too. I think you're very right on the fact that we learn from the mistakes we make so sometimes we have to do them in order to grow as a person, and that's what this community lacks of. Wisdom. I look forward to reading your blog posts because they are very interesting and fun to read.
